Cleaning of oil product storage tanks and pipelines for transportation of oil products

Cleaning of ‘tanks and pipelines from oil residues is carried out in compliance with regulatory documents specifying the operating procedure for cleaning of tanks and pipelines with observance of labor protection requirements as well as environmental and fire safety. For execution of works on cleaning of tanks and pipelines “Eco-Technics” LLP applies the mechanical method of cleaning using the mobile washing unit where hot water, diesel fuel or oil are used as a solvent. All usable main and auxiliary equipment of the cleaning unit is operated by hydraulic actuating gear. The unit is equipped by monitoring sensors tracing the level of explosive gasses and contaminating agents. Control system of the unit provides the automatic monitoring  of gas environment in cleanable equipment with automatic shutdown of detergent agents feeding and the whole process of cleaning in case of approaching the set limits of explosiveness.  Tanks and pipelines cleaning process map is as follows:

Очистка резервуаров для хранения нефтепродуктов и трубопроводов для транспортировки нефтепродуктов

1. Preparation stage

At this stage the preparation of the process area for installation of washing unit is carried out.

The location of this area shall be limited by the distance to nearest water body or resident area. The unit is located out of the explosive hazardous zone at a safe distance from the equipment to be cleaned. With the purpose to determine the effective selection of solvents the sampling and primary analysis of sediments for determination of qualitative composition of contaminants is carried out.

For the purpose of explosive gasses level control in the tank to be cleaned the monitoring sensors are installed. Monitoring of explosive gasses content in the tank is provided during the whole process of cleaning.

2. Equipment degassing

In order to remove the residual vapors of liquefied gasses as well as to reduce explosiveness in the process of execution of work the preliminary degassing of the equipment using the nitrogen generator is carried out. Cleanable equipment is filled by inert gas (nitrogen) through the distribution box which forces out residual LPG (liquefied petroleum gas).

3.  Removal of process residue of product

Removal of residual oil products is provided through suction adaptor by means of pump to receiving tank of washing machine being a part of the unit.

4. Washing and cleaning of inside surfaces of the equipment

Removed residuals of oil products pass through the filter and enter the receiving tank of the washing machine. Solid sediments gravitate to the bottom of the tank and liquid fluid warmed by means of heat exchange unit is supplied under pressure using the pump and two spraying devices back to the cleanable equipment. Hence, the cleaning may be provided by that liquid medium contained in the cleanable equipment. When necessary (in case the cleanable equipment is free of sufficiently liquid medium, or contamination level is very high, or liquid fluid contained in the cleanable equipment is not suitable for cleaning), hot water and/or washing cleaning fluid (solvent) is supplied to the cleanable equipment using the additional pump that will allow to provide even more qualitative washing of inside surfaces of the equipment.
